I've personally never found base building to be fun, which is why I prefer the Total War approach to the genre. I feel it makes the game tedious when you have to build your entire base from scratch every time there is a new battle.It's for that reason that I preferred BFME 3 didn't have base building.

I also never felt that it was a core aspect of the game. When I played the campaign in multiplayer, my friends and I always ignored the base-building aspect, and we never felt it hindered the game. In fact, we felt as if it just added a distraction.
