Echo F1 Speedometer Manual Lawn
Mower wouldn't start so I replaced the carburetor. But I had to get a replacement sent to me because the first one I got had a leak in the float. It would fill up with gas, sink, and open the needle valve sending lots of gas through the carb and over the hot engine. The replacement carb is now installed and works great and fixed my problems.Four stars because the quality control on that original item was poor. What happens when everything is made in China, I guess. But Amazon replaced it without question. Just what it took to bring my 20 yr. Old Generac 2500 back to life.
They ordered the parts and I returned a week later to have them replaced. During that week the speedometer worked fine when I was on the freeway, but I noticed the speedometer would sometimes drop from 20 mph to 0 when slowing or stopping. If I had to accelerate when the speedometer was at 0, the transmission would only be in first gear. Multitrackstudio serial. Get a free replacement MTD lawn mower manual from MTD Parts. Changed the oil, tore the old rotted sponge (?) out of the gas tank and rinsed tank out as best I could. That sponge thing must have something to do w/keeping the fuel from slopping around but I'll bet it was the source of my carb. Issues as it rotted and got sucked up.
Used a shot of starting fluid and the thing came to life on the first pull! I'd say the casting is not as heavy as the original carb but to me its just fine for the very limited amount of time this gets used. And the PRICE!!! I needed to replace my old engine for my Sear craftsman push mower. This engine is a beast. Better than what came originally.
If your mower deck has outlasted the engine, which they usually do now, don't waste your money replacing the whole mower, just buy this engine and replace it. The only, or most difficult part of the task, is you will have to buy, if you don't have one, a standard 3/8 tap to tap the threads for the mounting bolts. Other than that everything mounted right up and I was mowing within about 30 minutes. The engine has much more torque than the original engine so no more bogging down when I hit those thick patches of grass.
While the engine is a little heavier than the original I was finished mowing in less time as I didn't have to keep slowing down to allow the engine. Item was recommended by seller's agent to replace a faulty older unit on a log splitter. Upon opening, found the 'instapak' foam had leaked past the protective liner and attached itself to the recoil cowling. Had this been for one of my customers, I would have sent it back.
Installation was fairly simple, I had to tap 3 5/16-inch mounting holes required by my legacy mounting. The recoil start was on the opposite side of the oil drain location of the legacy unit - the mounting holes / depression of the oil drain plug dictated the orientation of the mounted engine - so now my recoil rope faced the opposite direction. Would I do it all again - probably since this was my own product.

If I were doing this for a customer - probably wouldn't have gotten away with the reverse recoil direction or the instapak damage. I was happily mowing along and my mower died. It had gas in it and hadn't sputtered, it just died. I knew that meant no spark and so I pulled the sparkplug and it was grey/brown and the gap was good and so that meant no spark. B&S has a kill switch which on my mower was engaged any time the bail on the handle was released. It had a wire to the magneto and so to be certain, I disconnected it. It should have then run without stopping, but still no spark.
The replacement magneto I selected was the cheapest non-computer B&S available and when I installed it using the cardboard box it came in as clearance to the flywheel, I had to trim a piece of adjacent plastic on the throttle control for clearance. I put the mower back together.
Asked by rich20012 Mar 25, 2013 at 03:53 PMabout the 2001 Toyota ECHO 4 Dr STD SedanQuestion type: Maintenance & RepairI have a 2001 Toyota echo, and first thing that happened was I took it for an oil change. A few days later I noticed my odometer went from 80,000 miles to 999,999 and stayed there.

The trip mileage will work but the odometer is maxed out (its digital) and wont reset. Then a few weeks later, i noticed when driving, my speedometer was on '0' and wouldnt move.
Since then, it works when it wants to, more often not working than working. What kind of repairs would I be getting into, should I choose to take it to the dealership?
Thanks for any info. Tenspeed answered6 years agoIt seems to me like there are several thing you could look at beforeresorting to the dealership for a solution. I would first look at the fusessince it is electrical. I wouldn't expect to find any blown fuses but it'seasy and cheap to check. Second, I would finds a Toyota forum and askother owners what part failed.
Third would depend on what owners say. Iwould start searching eBay for an output device on the transmission andused gauges. The dealer would have to change the mileage on theodometer for you.
